Marmalade-Stuffed French Toast

Marvelous Marmalade-Stuffed French Toast Recipe

Serves 8.

Ingredients

  • 8 slices of thick sliced French bread
  • 4 Oz soft cream cheese
  • 1/4 Cup marmalade
  • 4 Large eggs
  • 1 Cup milk
  • 1 Tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 Tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 Tsp nutmeg
  • 2 Tbs butter

Directions

Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Place baking sheet in oven.

Cut through the top crust of each bread slice and make a 4 inch long by 2 inch deep pocket.

Stir cream cheese and marmalade in a small bowl. Spoon 1 generous Tbs. of cream cheese mixture into each bread pocket.

Wisk eggs, milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a pie plate. Dip bread slices into egg mixture, coating completely. Melt 1 Tbs butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Place bread on skillet.

Cook until golden brown, 2-3 minutes per slice. Transfer toast to baking sheet in oven. Repeat dipping and cooking for remaining slices.

Serve with orange syrup.
