Each year on March 30th I plant the first pansies.

Garden pansies

The splashes of color in the window boxes and planters look festive after the long gray winter. As you can see by now they are in full bloom. In the past I have been able to keep them blooming right into November by keeping up with the removal of the dead flowers.

We enjoy using the brightly colored blossoms from our little gardens as garnish on the breakfast plates.
