The Palmer House has four mature cherry trees that are in full bloom.

The trees are absolutely magnificent. When the petals begin to fall one can walk through the garden on a carpet of pink. It is almost magical. We also have a lovely apple tree that is also in bloom. Its blossoms are a lighter shade of pink. It marks the entrance to our Thornton W.Burgess shade garden.
Finding plants that thrive in the shade has been a challenge. We have a beautiful bleeding heart that is blooming now and several varieties of hosta and ferns. Later in the season I will add impatience and more begonias.
