The Woods Hole Fishing Derbies begin at 12:01 AM, Sunday, September 15, 2013 and end on Sunday October 13, 2013 at midnight. The weigh-in times are between 9:00 AM and 10:00 PM each day. All fish must be weighed-in within 15 hours from the time of being caught. All state and federal laws must be complied with. At the time of weigh-in the fisherman must present his/her badge and provide the weigh-master all requested information.

There will be two divisions, striped bass and bluefish. The entry fee is $50.00, however, children under twelve are free.

A new addition, to the Derby, this year is a free component. You will not be eligible for the grand prize but for each bluefish or bass the fisherman will receive a Landfall prize. It could be a drink, or a cup of soup, or a Landfall tee-shirt. Each fisherman can weigh as many fish as he likes and there is no charge. In addition the fisherman will receive a raffle ticket for a framed print of an oil painting by local Cape Cod artist Julia O’Malley-Keyes. The print is now on display over the fireplace at Landfall.  The raffle drawing will be at the awards party on Monday, October 14th. at 6:00 PM.

One requirement is that you can only participate in one of the fishing derbies; either the Calcutta Derby or the Free Fishing Derby.

Celebrating the Fishermen, and Women, of the Woods Hole Fishing Derby

Landfall will host the awards party on Monday, October 14, 2013 at 6:00 PM. Daily prizes will be given out for the biggest catch of the day and the grand prizes will be awarded on the last day. The minimum length for an entry is twenty-eight inches. A first prize will be awarded each day for each division (Bluefish and Striped Bass). At the awards party the money from the entry fees will be split in half with fifty percent going the fisherman who caught the largest Striped Bass and fifty percent going to the one who caught the largest Bluefish.

So go on out on those beautiful Cape Cod waters, enjoy the Woods Hole fishing derby and have fun.
