INGREDIENTS:
8 2½ x 4½ inch slices French bread (each about 1 Inch thick)
4 Oz soft cream cheese
¼ Cup marmalade
4 large eggs
1 Cup milk
1 Tsp vanilla extract
¼ Tsp ground cinnamon
2 Tbs butter (¼ stick)
DIRECTIONS:
Preheat oven to 300 degrees F. Place baking sheet in oven. Cut through the top crust of each bread slice and make a 4 inch long by 2 inch deep pocket. Stir cream cheese and marmalade in small bowl. Spoon 1 generous Tbs. of cream cheese mixture into each bread pocket.
Wisk eggs, milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon and nutmeg in pie plate. Dip bread slices into egg mixture, coating completely. Melt 1 Tbs butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Place bread on skillet. Cook until golden brown, 2-3 minutes per slice. Transfer toast to baking sheet in oven. Repeat dipping and cooking remaining slices.
