Transportation to and from the Cape

Falmouth is served primarily by Boston Logan International Airport and Providence/TF Green Airport (in Rhode Island) for international travelers.  Those preferring a smaller airport the Barnstable Municipal Airport is close by and provides limited bus service to Falmouth. From either airport you can travel by rental car or bus. The Peter Pan Bus Company has regular service from both airports to Falmouth. The Cape Cod Regional Transit Authority runs busses between the Barnstable Municipal Airport and Falmouth.  The bus terminal is a few minutes walk from the Inn.

Getting around the Cape

Automobile

Traveling by car offers the greatest amount of flexibility. Alamo, National and Enterprise car rental companies have offices in Falmouth, but the airports have all the major rental companies. The Palmer House provides off street parking for guests. Driving directions to Falmouth, Cape Cod.

Bus

The Cape Cod Regional Transit Authority runs low-cost busses and shuttles along Cape Cod. Sight seeing busses run on Martha’s Vineyard from Memorial Day through September. The buses are run by the Vineyard Fast Ferry are a great way to get around the islands. For your convenience we tickets for the Vineyard bus tour at the Inn. In addition the Martha’s Vineyard Regional Transit Authority provides year-round service to the Vineyard.

Bicycle

The bicycle is an excellent way to see the Cape and islands. The Cape has some extremely scenic bike paths, including the  Shining Sea Bikeway and the Cape Cod Rail Trail, which meanders through seven towns for over 25  miles. There are rental shops in just about every town. For wandering around Falmouth, the Palmer House provides bicycles to guests (May to October) on a first come, first serve basis.

Moped/Scooter

Mopeds can be rented on Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket. These can be an enjoyable way to get around if you prefer not to use the island’s tour buses.

Ferry

The Steamship Authority offers daily ferry service between Falmouth’s Woods Hole and the islands of Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket. Ferry tickets can be purchased at the Inn.

Taxi

You will find taxi stands at most of the airports, bus terminals and ferry landings.
